it is practice policy that all our new patients have a health check with our healthcare assistant or one of the practice nurses so that we have some background information on you and your health status.
Clinics
New Patient Medical
NHS Health Checks
Some patients aged over 40 who have certain medical conditions are entitled to a check up performed by a trained health care professional. Ask at reception for an appointment.
Non-NHS Services
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges.
Adult Immunisation
We give tetanus and polio boosters which cover you for 10 years.
We offer a ‘flu’ vaccination especially to ‘at risk’ patients from October every year. Details of when the Flu Clinics are to be held will be advertised in the surgery and locally, and also put on repeat prescriptions.
Pneumonia vaccinations are available all year round.
Child Immunisation
In association with the Local Health Authority, we hold baby and toddler immunisation clinics 2 mornings a week.
Travel Vaccinations
If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.
Please book for your travel vaccinations at least 6 weeks before you intend to travel.
Minor Surgery
we provide a full range of minor surgical procedures in our modern treatment room. These include removal of lumps and bumps, joint injections, cryotherapy (freezing) for skin problems and verrucae. Ask the doctor for details.
Asthma & COPD
All our patients with Asthma and COPD will be reviewed annually, this may be initially via a questionaire and then any patient needing a review with one of clinicians will be offered an appointment.
Diabetic Clinics
Every patient with Diabetes is invited to an annual review with one of our nursing team, this includes a blood pressure and weight check, a foot check and if necessary a review of your medication.
You will also be called annually for an eye check.
Dr Pinkerton and Sr Julie Borton oversee the Diabetes Clinics and you can request an appointment with either of them if you are having any issues with your Diabetes or your medication for your Diabetes.
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) Clinics
All our patients with high blood pressure will be asked to have bloods tests and blood pressure checks annually, these will be sent in the post and then a review with one of our nursing team will be booked.
Cervical Screening (Smears)
All women between the age of 25 and 65 have a cervical smear every 3-5 years.
You will be contacted by post when you are due to be screened and you will need to book your appointment with the nurse.
We can not book your smear until you have been invited by the national screening service.
Family Planning
advice or a confidential consultation on family planning matters is available from our family planning nurse or the doctor. Please ask at reception.
Menopause & HRT
Dr Wren and Dr Pinkerton have an interest in Menopause and HRT, Julie Borton ANP can see patients with issues around the Menopause or for prescriptions of HRT.
Contraceptive Implant Insertion
We run clinics twice a month where we can fit and remove contraceptive implants, if you are interested then please book an appointment with one of our nurses to discuss this first. They will then add you to the waiting list if you wish to go ahead.
Mirena IUS and Copper IUD (Coils) Clinic
We run clinics twice a month for fitting IUS and IUDs, if you would like to discuss this please book an appointment with one of our nurses who can take swabs and add you to the waiting list if you wish to go ahead.
